Harrisburg, PA A.B.A.T.E. of Pennsylvania held its Annual Motorcyclist Ride To Gettysburg on Saturday, September 27, a fund raising campaign to preserve Pennsylvania Monuments and the famous Daniel Lady Farm.
Over 100 motorcycles and 157 participants from around the state braved the wet weather to ride from Harrisburg to Battlefield Harley Davidson in Gettysburg. A.B.A.T.E. of PA raised approximately $11,500 which included a $1500 contribution from Dave & Jennifer LeVan of Battlefield Harley Davidson. To date, the Annual Ride to Gettysburg has raised over $75,000.
Escorting the parade of motorcycles was Chief Weigand of the Latimore Township Police Department. He was joined by other police departments along the route. The Operation God Bless America Color Guard led the parade, followed by parade marshal Supreme Court Justice Seamus McCaffery and former House member Teresa Forcier. The group was joined in Gettysburg by Representative Dan Moul.
In recognition of A.B.A.T.E. of PAs continued support of the Gettysburg monuments, Representative Harry Readshaw presented a citation at the closing ceremony.
ABATE of PA thanks all that participated and contributed to the Ride To Gettysburg. A special thanks to Brian Howard who coordinated the Road Guard Traffic Safety effort.
This years ride was dedicated to Lieutenant Governor Catherine Baker Knoll, a strong supporter of the Gettysburg effort, but unable to lead the ride due to illness.
