The month of May has been designated Motorcycle Safety & Awareness Month for two decades. As temperatures warm, and the presence of motorcycles increases, motorists and motorcyclists must unite in the safe sharing of roads throughout Pennsylvania.
"Its a reminder to motorists to be aware of motorcyclists", according to Charles Umbenhauer of ABATE. "Its also a reminder to motorcyclists to keep their equipment in shape, ride safely, and take advantage of the training offered by Pennsylvanias Motorcycle Safety Program."
Motorcycle riding is a popular form of recreation and transportation for 806,000 licensed motorcyclists across the Commonwealth.
During the month of May, Alliance of Bikers Aimed Toward Education of Pennsylvania (ABATE) will continue its advocacy of motorcycle safety and awareness by placing 10,000 custom-printed lawn signs in high-visibility areas. The signs will read "Look Twice - Save A Life - Motorcycles Are Everywhere". Help us get the word out!
