McKean County Legion Riders
Gerry Ford and Cheryl Razey presented OSAL to 20 members of the
McKean County Legion Riders motorcycle organization.
"The group was very positive about the presentation. Created a
discussion about experienced riders taking the training course. Made
contact with someone from the high school."
Mike Burford, McKean County Legion Riders, had this to say in
his "Program Report and Evaluation Form":
"Yes, it was very interesting and a lot of good ideas were
mentioned on how to watch for motorcycles. Cheryl & Gerry
were very informative. I feel that this program should be viewed by
all drivers, it is a great way for drivers to become aware of some
things they may be doing wrong as far as watching for motorcycles. I
know I will be a better driver because of the presentation."
And from Larry and Sharon Norton--"just wanted to say Good Job
for the presentation at the meeting. Both of you go Out of Your Way
for our rider's. Thanks again, Be Proud, Larry

Two classes held for two Drivers Ed periods. Approximately 20 students per group. The school video taped one of the sessions. The presenters were George Conrad (LC) and Danny Heffner (VP). The students were receptive and interested. We told them, "You never know who might be on a bike, friend, relative or your School Superintendent." Then we informed them that their Mr. Foster rides! Superintendent James Foster also sat in on one class. We used two bikes at the conclusion to show safety, signals and allowed students to see how easy balance is. Superintendent Foster said, "I feel that it should be a part of every driver education program - 1 or 2 days to cover the A.B.A.T.E. program is good!"

West Newton Community Fair
Had a great time down WNCF this past weekend. Set up on Friday afternoon. Had a great spot inside the old gym. My Grandson and hubby helped on Friday, Denise Vaugne and Patty Hefner came in later that evening. Saturday I was surprised to see my Mum sitting there talking to the few older folks about OSAL (she heard the script enough from me). Denise came over in the afternoon and Patty followed later. Lots of Q & A from all.
~ Cindy "Sinbad" Hartley
Pittsburgh Technical Institute
We did the Pittsburgh Technical Institute again this year. They were very nice. One student actually got her relative to bring in a Orange County Chopper bike (he works for them). My daughter did quite a bit of work there. I put her to the test. Made her answer questions. I used the VHS tapes and she talked to the students that were watching the tapes. We were in the hallway, going outside along with MRF. Hubby was there and Bill Foley came in a little later.
~ Cindy "Sinbad" Hartley
Bethlehem-Center High School
We did the presentation (Ray and Denise) and I also had two Greene County members join us (Greene County Secretary, Debbie Rizor and Sheriff in GCC, Remish). They did really well and I had them answer questions to get them used to what is in store. The class had over 20 students and what's great about this is, I'll be doing the new school year too! The Beth Center program was a great success and the kids were fantastic.
~ Cindy Hartley
Pittsburgh Institute of Technology
We did really good at the seminar at the Pittsburgh
Institute of Technology . I had Patty Hefner and
Tom Holton read scripts and get involved. They
had no other choice but to do so because, we had 3 classes at once to speak at!
~ Cindy Hartley
California High School Drivers Ed
There were about 30 students and we all had a blast. Took only 45 mins even with the pictures
of the kids on the bike. Every student wanted pictures on the bike and so I had my handy
disposable and took their pictures. They loved it.

Good Luck in the future guys you're off to a great start. Oh and they even want them back in July!!

Brian's Harley-Davidson
On May 21 our chapter set up a Safety Stand Down Day at Brian's
Harley Davidson in Langhorne, PA. The Dealership provided us with
food and a very large classroom.
The key players in the day were myself, Chapter Rep Phil "Flea"
Sciarra and Chapter L.C. Frank Avato. For roughly six hours we
alternated tapes between our OSAL, Share the Road, MSF Group Riding
and MSF Riding Straight tapes. I also own a set of the MSF Fatal
Vision Goggles so we had that set up too.
We got the display board from the State Office and set up a
handout/information table. we signed up a couple
of new members and had between 75 and 100 people wander through and
watch the tapes and talk.
We plan on doing the same thing again next year.

but I do think they both enjoyed the presentation. Mr. King seemed
to be pleased. I gave him a form (S.A.S.E.) to fill out.

Monessen High School
We did an OSAL presentation at Monessen High School in June for their drivers-ed class. Fly helped with the presentation by answering any questions pertaing to the bike, motor, gas, wheels, etc. The class consisted of 21 new drivers and by the time the video was over, all eyes and ears were wide open. Dr. Jack Pavellla, the drivers-ed teacher even took the quiz. He acted as a student during the whole presentation. Everyone enjoyed themselves and were excited when they were able to sit on the bike. All in all I think we did quite well for our first presentation.
